Review:

In Spring 2018, on February 23rd Octavia and Towering Angels gave a concert in St Mary’s Church, Peldon called Winter Warmer, in which the idea was that we would include music hall songs from the North East. The audience sang so well you would think they were all Geordies!  Then we followed with a full Quire concert drawing on the same resource – Dance to your Daddy – at All Saints Brightlingsea on March 23rd. While this was fun for us we had a very poor audience turn out which gave the committee food for thought for future concerts

On Saturday July 7th we gave a concert at Maldon Methodist Church called Encore! 2 choirs – 1 world. This gave us the chance to sing with our friends from Brittany – Ktema. We sang on the harbour front in the afternoon before the concert in the evening.  On July 8th Quire and Ktema appeared again at Colchester’s BIG Sunday in Firstsite where we sang some numbers from our Saturday concert.

Concerts to come:

This autumn we are advancing a series of challenging concerts:

We appear at Night of Quires on October 5th – as one of half a dozen local choirs at Kingsland Church. On November 10th we are back in Peldon, this time at the new Community Hall with Pack Up Your Troubles, a concert to commemorate the centenary of the end of WW1 with a programme of songs – some nostalgic and some Music Hall choruses.

Then on November 17th we’ll be performing at the Five Lakes Resort to sing in three 30 minute slots during the afternoon – Carols for the Christmas Season. The smaller groups will be at the Anglo French Society on December 5th where Octavia and Towering Angels will sing a programme – 50% in French! Fete de Noel.

Concerts already booked for 2019 are March 23rd at St Mary’s Church, West Bergholt, a Caribbean programme Come Mr. Tally Man. Then a few days later, on April 3rd we sing a programme of African and gospel music at Boxted Church.

We hope to go to Brittany for the weekend of June 8th and 9th and then on July 6th we sing a programme called The Roots of Gospel at Maldon Methodist Church.

Why not join us?
If you are reading this blog for the first time and are interested in joining us or at least coming along for a sing, then we rehearse at Lion Walk Church in the church hall on Thursdays at 7pm.
